Meet Our Designer: Dawn Starr Looking Elk

Founder, Visionary, Artist, and Cosmic Creator of Stardust Studios

At the heart of Stardust Studios is a woman whose creativity knows no bounds—Dawn Starr Looking Elk, the soul, spark, and hands behind the designs. A lifelong artist, raver, and dreamer, Dawn Starr is the embodiment of everything Stardust Studios stands for: inclusivity, expression, spirituality, rebellion, and radiant authenticity.

Dawn Starr’s journey began in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she was raised with deep Native roots, immersed in creativity from an early age. A Generation X raver since the ’90s and a veteran of the underground scene, she found her true passion in the intersection of fashion, music, and metaphysical energy. She’s been designing and constructing costumes and apparel for over 20 years, with a degree in Technical Theater, Costume Design, and Art Studio from the University of New Mexico.

Over the years, Dawn Starr has worked behind the scenes on massive productions like Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity, Shag With a Twist, and Life is Beautiful. She’s also an experienced wardrobe technician, stagehand, and seamstress who has brought dozens of creative visions to life in theater, live events, and festivals across the West Coast.

But Stardust Studios is where her personal magic truly shines.

“I created Stardust Studios as a sacred space to bring high-vibe fashion to life—something that empowers people to feel radiant, comfortable, and seen,” Dawn Starr shares. “It’s more than just clothes. It’s energetic armor for your highest self.”

Her designs draw inspiration from 1990s rave culture, cyberpunk and Y2K fashion, sacred geometry, high fashion runways, and the natural world. Her signature touch includes embellishments, fuller coverage fits, inclusive sizing, matching accessories, personalization, and designs for rave families, couples, and chosen families. Everything is made-to-order or handpicked to align with the vibe of conscious rave culture.

When Dawn Starr’s not designing rave wear, she’s creating crystal jewelry, vending at festivals, making art installations, working backstage at concerts, or building community among artists and performers. She’s Reiki-certified, shaman-trained, and always channeling something bigger than herself into her work.

Through Stardust Studios, Dawn Starr is not only designing wearable art—she’s cultivating a collective, inviting in musicians, DJs, dancers, visual artists, glam techs, and fellow visionaries to co-create experiences that are rooted in art, spirit, and freedom.

So next time you wear a Stardust Studios piece, know this:

It was made with intention, history, love, and stardust.
